Please ensure you allow a 2-hour window from the approximate airport arrival time indicated in the schedule to your departure time. This buffer accounts for potential delays like traffic congestion, TSA lines, and other airport-related issues, ensuring a relaxed journey to catch your flight. Remember, it’s your responsibility to book a shuttle that aligns with your flight schedule.

We need a way to contact you when you land. As you know, travel can be unpredictable. Weather in winter and summer it can change quickly. Flights often run early or late. However we need to be able to talk with you after you land. (Please note, due to security regulations set down by the Airport, our drivers are not permitted to leave their vehicles and meet customers inside the terminal) Our system also sends text alerts when the shuttle is on its way to pick you up. These alerts are particularly important in the mornings as they give you peace of mind and reassurance that the shuttle is enroute.

To mitigate the spread of communicable diseases/viruses like COVID, SARS, etc., Keys Shuttle refrains from offering car seats or booster seats. Shuttle vehicles are not bound by Florida’s child passenger safety laws. However, this exemption doesn’t guarantee enhanced safety for children in these vehicles. You’re welcome to bring your own car seat. Parents hold responsibility for the proper installation of the car seat. We strongly advise all passengers to wear a seat belt throughout the journey.

On average, renting a basic economy car from Miami International Airport will cost approximately $175.00 to $193.00 per day, depending on the rental agency, with an additional $45.00 for fees and taxes. Additional costs for toll fees may vary among car rental agencies, ranging from $10.00 per toll (approximately 5 tolls), to a $35.00 administrative fee plus the toll by plate rate of approximately $5 for this trip. Fuel expenses are approximately $21. Overall, when considering a one-way trip from or to Miami International Airport to the Florida Keys, the total cost for renting a car ranges from $281 to $299.

From Fort Lauderdale Airport the cost is slightly higher due to the distance than Miami International Airport

Utilizing your own vehicle is evidently more convenient, but not necessarily more cost-effective. Expenses such as fuel, tolls, and airport parking must be taken into account.

Parking rates at Miami International Airport range from $17.00 to $30.00 per day, contingent upon the garage and additional services. The total parking costs at this airport will vary depending on the duration of your trip.

At Fort Lauderdale Airport, parking fees range from $15.00 to $36.00 per day, depending on the garage and services selected. The overall parking expenses at Fort Lauderdale Airport are also tied to the length of your trip.

Finding parking at the airports can be challenging. Allocate at least 30-45 minutes to secure a parking space upon arrival.

That’s a crucial question with a somewhat challenging answer. Determining whether a shuttle service, black car service, or limo service is authorized to pick up and drop off at Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) isn’t straightforward. Unfortunately, these companies don’t provide information on their websites about entities permitted or authorized for such services, and there’s no direct phone line for inquiries.

As a client, it becomes your responsibility to conduct due diligence. Both Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) have similar requirements for Airport Permits. Here are some key steps to verify a company’s authorization:

  • State Registration: Ensure the company is registered to do business in the State of Florida and is listed as active. Check the status on sunbiz.org, select the entity type, and search by name.
  • Business Tax Receipt: Confirm that the company holds a current Business Tax receipt from its county of origin (e.g., Monroe County). You can check the status on the Monroe County Tax Collector’s site by entering the company name. If it’s a Florida company based in another county, check the respective county’s tax collector’s site.
  • Insurance: Insurance requirements vary between airports. It’s crucial to understand the specific insurance requirements for each airport. In Florida and other states, insurance policies typically state that the company they are insuring is duly formed, licensed, and permitted to perform the work. This is vital, as insurance claims may be denied if the company is not properly licensed. Discovering this after an accident or any incident requiring a claim against the transportation company that they lacked proper licensing and authorization for the work is a situation you want to avoid. The harsh reality is that the claim may be denied solely on the grounds of improper licensing and authorization. Then there is another factor to consider if company isn’t properly licensed and or authorized to do the work what makes you think they are caring the proper limits/amounts of insurance required or even if they are carrying any insurance at all.
  • Permit Decals & Transponders: Both airports, Miami International Airport (MIA and Ft Lauderdale Airport (FLL) provide decals and transponders to licensed and authorized transportation companies. The decals must be securely attached to the windshield, and the transponders are also affixed to the windshield.

Keep in mind that if a company’s filing with Sunbiz is not current and/or if they lack an active Business Tax receipt with their county of origin, they are likely not authorized to provide transportation to and from Miami International Airport (MIA) and/or Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL).
